ADVANTAGES OF BILZ FOUNDATION ISOLATIONS
- Improved Precision and Stability (Receiver Isolation):
By reducing external vibration influences on sensitive machines and measuring devices, manufacturing accuracy and process stability increase. This enhances product quality, extends the lifespan of equipment, and ensures consistently high measurement standards. - Protection of the Machine Environment (Source Isolation):
Vibration decoupling prevents the transmission of shocks to surrounding equipment, tools, and building structures. This reduces the risk of material fatigue, damage, and costly repairs. Additionally, compliance with legal regulations regarding vibration and shock limits is reliably maintained. - Structure-borne Noise Reduction:
Effective foundation isolation reduces vibration-induced noise. This creates more pleasant working conditions, facilitates communication, reduces stress factors, and ensures compliance with noise protection regulations. - Cost Savings through Reduced Maintenance Needs:
Less wear and lower vibration stress lead to fewer repairs, more predictable maintenance intervals, and longer machine runtimes. As a result, operating costs, downtime, and resource expenditure decrease. - Increased Productivity:
A stable, low-vibration environment allows for more precise and faster manufacturing processes, as well as higher product quality. This improves efficiency, utilization, and competitiveness.
WHY BILZ FOUNDATION ISOLATIONS
The indirect vibration isolation of a machine or system with a foundation increases the inherent stiffness and significantly improves the dynamic behavior during large load changes and travel paths. A precise design of the foundation tailored to the machine’s characteristics ensures an economical solution for the long-term, trouble-free operation of the system.
BILZ is a leader in developing innovative solutions for vibration isolation. With decades of experience and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, we are the ideal partner to maximize the lifespan of your machines and minimize your operating costs.

FAQ Foundation Isolation
What types of foundation isolation are available?
Foundation isolations differ mainly by the way the foundation is constructed. A foundation can consist of multiple prefabricated plates or a single large block. Various shapes, such as a T-form, are possible to optimize the center of gravity (lower it). Suitable isolators include FAEBI® rubber air springs or BiAir® membrane air springs. Another option is to pour the foundation on-site using a so-called “lost formwork” placed between isolators (usually insulation plate sets).
For what types of machines is a foundation isolation necessary?
Especially for large or long machines, a foundation can enhance the overall system’s stiffness and significantly improve isolation. Additionally, the added mass helps to stabilize the machine during large load changes.
Can foundation isolation be integrated into existing installations?
Yes, but it requires significant effort and is ideally considered during the planning phase. Alternatively, indirect isolation via a platform can offer similar benefits in terms of stiffness and lowering the center of gravity.
How is the vibration isolation system beneath a foundation maintained?
When designing the foundation, access to the isolators is ensured. This varies by isolator type. Ideally, FAEBI® rubber air springs or BiAir® membrane air springs combined with an electronic leveling system allow for remote maintenance. Manual maintenance or component replacement is performed through service hatches.
What is a typical project workflow for foundation isolation – from inquiry to implementation?
The project starts with a personal consultation to discuss requirements. On-site vibration measurements may be conducted for proper technical planning. We then provide a tailored offer and manage the project. Implementation is carried out in cooperation with long-standing, experienced partners. After installation, the isolation effectiveness is verified and documented. Post-project support is also available.
